Just saw this excellent Iranian film, by Asghar Farhadi, at my neighborhood movie theater, which deservedly won the Golden Bear at this year’s Berlin Film Festival. It is yet further confirmation that Iranian cinema is one of the most interesting and compelling in the world today, and despite having to operate under severe political constraints (boy, if only the great Iranian nation could get rid of that despicable political regime—not just Ahmadinejad but the whole lot of the wretched mullahocracy). The film has received stellar reviews in France and in the Hollywood press. No US release date as yet, malheureusement.
UPDATE: The blog on the New York Review of Books web site has this post on the film, which opens in NYC and LA at the end of the year. (September 22)
