ARTE broadcast a remarkable documentary Tuesday night on Iran during the 2009 Green Movement and since. It increases one’s loathing of that regime—if it’s possible to loathe it any more than one does (or at least than I do)—, not to mention one’s admiration of those courageous Iranians who have put their lives at risk in demanding freedom and democracy. I’ve certainly never put my life on the line like that.
À propos, Abbas Milani has a piece up today, entitled “The Green Movement: Two Years Later, the Iranian Regime Continues to Brutalize Its Own People.”
If only the Ayatollah Khomeini had choked on pistachio nuts in Neauphle-le-Château…
